What happens to your evidence if you uninstall Vouchline
Short answer: the evidence you have downloaded stays valid and verifiable forever. The data kept inside the app does not survive an uninstall.
What is stored where
| What | Where it lives | Survives an uninstall |
|---|---|---|
| Snapshots, reviews, items, the decision register | Forge hosted storage, inside your Atlassian site | No |
| PDF report, Items (CSV), Journal (CSV), Package (JSON) that you downloaded | Wherever you saved them | Yes |
Vouchline has no server of its own. It runs entirely on Atlassian Forge and sends nothing outside your Atlassian site, so there is no second copy of your data anywhere else.
What Atlassian does on uninstall
This is Forge platform behaviour, not a Vouchline setting:
- Uninstalling the app removes its access to the stored data immediately.
- Installing it again creates a new, empty installation. Your earlier reviews do not reappear.
- Atlassian keeps the data of an uninstalled app for 28 days and then deletes it permanently.
- Within that period the data can be linked to a new installation, but not automatically: we have to request it from Atlassian on your behalf, with your consent, within 21 days of the uninstall. Write to support@retek.app as soon as you notice an uninstall you did not intend.
Source: Forge storage reference (retention as documented by Atlassian in October 2026). The platform sets these periods and may change them.
Why the downloaded package does not depend on the app
The Package (JSON) file contains every link of the decision register in full, the sealed snapshot header and the data caveats recorded when the review was opened. Anyone can recompute the hash chain from that file alone, with a short script that shares no code with Vouchline — see Verify an evidence package without Vouchline.
So the proof that a review took place is not held hostage by the app, by your subscription, or by Atlassian.
What we recommend
- Download the evidence package when you close each review. Closing is final, so the package will not change afterwards.
- Store it where you keep the rest of your audit evidence — your ISMS repository or document management system, not Jira.
- Keep
Package (JSON)together with the PDF. The PDF is what people read; the JSON is what makes independent verification possible. - Before uninstalling, or before letting a subscription lapse for a long time, download the package of every review you may need later.
If the subscription ends
Without an active subscription you cannot start a new review. Existing reviews and their evidence packages remain available for as long as the app stays installed.
Snapshots are not kept forever either
A snapshot is the raw permission data a review was built from. Vouchline keeps the ten most recent snapshots and removes older ones automatically. A snapshot that a review refers to is protected and is never removed by retention.
